How my grandfather left from this world?

Today, I am writing about my activities after death of my grandfather. As I had already told you the reason how he left this world and this post is also the continuation of the previous post, during this course of writing, I will be emphasizing on the must activities to be done after the death of anyone in my culture.

According to my culture, Hindu Culture, after the death of any member of our family, like my grandpa, the death body should be taken to the place where the cremation takes place. Here, in Nepal, the cremation is normally done in PashupatiNath Temple, the greatest God for Hindu people around the globe and it is the religious place. Furthermore, the dead body is covered with yellow holy cloth with flowers on it.  And the lowermost body is dipped to the BRAMANAL1, the lower portion of PashupatiNath where the water poured by devotees gets collected. The poured water from BRAMANAL is put into the mouth of dead person as the final provision. Similarly, the after performing such operation, the body should be carried to the place for cremation.

The cremation is performed by the sons of the death member. If the death person does not have son, it is done by other member like grandchild or other relatives close to the death person. The woods are collected, initially, to burn the person. After collecting the woods, they are stacked so as to burn easily. The dead body, after rounding seven times around the stacked woods, is kept on the stacked wood, also called CHEETA. The initial fire is applied by the oldest son of the death member. As me, an oldest grandson of my grandpa, I gave it to my dad and he applied a fire, called DAGBATTI, to my grandpa on his mouth.  The body started to burn with application of ghee of cow, a religious animal, and TULASI, a religious plant. For further burning enhancement, other chemicals like KAPOOR were also added

After finishing the dead body into ashes, next step is to stay 13 days with salt free food and well shaved head and face. The clothes used by his/her son should be white color. They should use different toilet with daily bath until 13 days. Every day they should perform rituals in the memory of old person. They are allowed to sleep in a different place that is not touchable by other people and their sleeping area should also be untouchable. In this way, they finish their rituals for thirteen days.

At the very end day of such work, some people change their white clothes to other, whereas some wear white cloth until one year. During the course of their work, they should not eat tomatoes, garlic, onion, meat and millet. With such controlling of food throughout the whole year, they finish their work in the memory of died person. At the final day of a year, they change their clothes white color to other color finishing their work. And every year, they remember died one and perform anniversary work.
